Massey Fairgrounds holds summer long Market Place - Sault Star

Article content

The Massey and Area Agricultural Society is pulling out all stops this summer providing members of the community with many family activities to make their summer more enjoyable.
Carloads of people attended the fairgrounds Sunday evening, July 11 when Horizon Drive-In was back in the town with a double feature at the fairgrounds showing ‘The Greatest Showman’ and ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark.’
And that’s not all there is at the fairgrounds this summer; if you’re one of those people who enjoy looking for bargains, check out the Market Place every Saturday all summer at the fairgrounds. There is free parking and admittance is also free.
Washroom facilities are available and picnic tables are on site. Pack a lunch and enjoy the Massey Market Place on Saturdays. Vendors can book a space by calling 705-865-2070 for further information.
This past weekend the Massey Market Place had vendors selling an assortment of merchandise including paintings, pottery, crystals, and semi-precious stones, quilted products, Watkins Products, camo gear at near wholesale prices and moccasins.
As the Massey Market Place moves through the summer it is expected more vendors will take part with the low rental fee of $15 including hydro, if needed. The Market Place runs from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. each Saturday all summer. Look for locally grown fresh produce in the coming weeks as the harvesting begins and don’t forget the home baking.
The Massey Agricultural Society is known province-wide as a pleasant venue for horse shows. Participants come from all over to compete in the shows held every summer. The fairgrounds is hosting its first horse show on the weekend of July 17 and 18.
There are 23 events happening over the weekend with both youths and adults saddling up for the competitions.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday with the show beginning at 9 a.m. Spectators are welcome to attend and COVID restrictions will apply throughout the weekend. Fair board president, Brian Channon, is expecting a huge turnout of participants at the show.
For more information on entry contact the Massey Agricultural Society for a registration form at 705- 865-2070 or email offica@masseyfair.ca.
