Motorists were advised to plan a different travel route Wednesday afternoon when authorities shut down the Carrying Place swing bridge on Highway 33 south of Trenton.

Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan said, a “dump truck and two other vehicles collided at the Carrying Place Swing Bridge at 3.30 pm. Wednesday.”
There were no injuries reported, he said.
“An engineer had to be called in to inspect the bridge. Traffic was rerouted into Trenton,” said Whelan.
The City of Quinte West issued an advisory for motorists to be aware that the “Carrying Place swing bridge will be closed until further notice due to a motor vehicle collision.”
“At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, three vehicles were involved in a collision on the Carrying Place swing bridge. As a result, the bridge will remain closed until a proper inspection can be completed,” the municipality said in a press release.
Drivers who regularly travel County Road 33 will need to plan an alternate route, the city said.
