UPPER TANTALLON, N.S. - The Sydney Academy Wildcats took home third place at the Bay View High School basketball tip-off tournament in Upper Tantallon over the weekend.
The Wildcats downed Park View Education Centre of Bridgewater 66-53 to finish third overall in the event on Saturday. Earlier in the day, Sydney Academy lost 82-80 in overtime to the host Bay View High School.
Sydney Academy opened the tournament Friday with an 87-76 loss to Auburn Drive High School of Cole Harbour, before beating Park View later in the day 80-61.
The Wildcats returned home to Cape Breton Saturday afternoon and joined the Cape Breton High School Basketball League tip-off tournament already in progress. The club won a pair of games and advanced to the championship game against Breton Education Centre on Monday. The score result was not available at press time.
