The first official blast of winter may finally be coming our way.
According to Environment Canada, 10 to 20 centimetres of snow is expected for the Prince George-area.
Locations: Mackenzie, McLeod Lake, communities along and north of Highway 16 from Hazelton to Prince George including Vanderhoof, Burns Lake, and Fort Fraser, Fort St. James, Granisle.
Timespan:
Tonight (Friday) to Sunday for Mackenzie & McLeod Lake.
Tonight and Saturday for Bulkley Valley and the Lakes, Stuart-Nechako regions,
Saturday: Prince George region.
The first system will bring heavy snow tonight to Mackenzie and McLeod Lake.
As the low moves into Alberta Saturday morning, the trailing cold front moves south, and communities along Highway 16 will see their heaviest snowfall tomorrow (Saturday).
The next system moves on Saturday evening before changing to rain on Sunday.
In addition, between 20 and 30 centimetres could fall along Highway 97 and the Pine Pass.
Affected communities include Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, Pouce Coupe, Hudson’s Hope, Sinclair Mills, Dome Creek.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
