It has been a tough 20 months for many organizations, including Daffodil Place in St. John’s.
That’s why their 24-hour One Night Stand Radiothon today on VOCM is so important.
Many of their in-person fundraising events were suspended or scaled back.
That’s had a significant impact on their operations, as Daffodil Place has to raise $700,000 a year just to keep the lights on.
The facility, located on Ropewalk Lane, is a home-away-from-home for cancer patients and their supports, who have to travel long distances for treatment.
Al Pelley, the director of revenue development for the Cancer Society, says it costs about $115 for one night’s stay, but those who avail of the service are charged only $25.
Pelley says if not for the subsidized accommodations, some patients would probably miss their appointments.
Operators are standing by now to take your pledge at 1-844-229-0146.
