UPDATE:
A tense situation on Manitoulin Island involving a barricaded individual was resolved Monday without incident.

Manitoulin OPP said members responded to a domestic dispute on Main Street in Kagawong at approximately 4:07 a.m.
A shelter in place advisory was implemented and people were asked to stay away from the area.
Assisting in the response were members of the OPP crime unit, emergency response team, tactics and rescue unit, canine unit, OPP negotiators, an OPP drone and critical incident commander.
Around 5 p.m., the police service reported that the incident had “ended safely with no injuries.”
The identity of the accused was being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
“This investigation is continuing,” the OPP said in a release. “Further updates will be provided once available.”
Main Street in Kagawong was reopened in the late afternoon.
The OPP thanked the public for adhering to the shelter in place recommendation.

Members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating an incident on Main Street in Billings Township.
Billings is a small community on Manitoulin Island.
The OPP is asking people stay away from the area. If you are already in the area, then shelter in a place of safety until further notice, police said in a release.
The OPP gave no other details about what’s going on, but said it would provide updates.
