People in Billings Township, between M'Chigeeng and Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island, are being asked to shelter in a safe place Monday until further notice as Ontario Provincial Police investigate an active occurrence.
The nature of the occurrence is unknown but the public is asked to stay away from the Main Street area, police said in a news release just before 10 a.m.
"There is a detour available to the public in order to avoid Main Street through Rainbow Heights Road and Beach Street," OPP Const. Tessa Kasch said in an email to CTV News.
