Family, friends, and the community rallied in protest for a Prince George woman who was murdered over the weekend.

According to police, Christin West was found dead on Saturday (August 7th) at a residence on the 2000 block of 20th Avenue, and her family started a rally today (Monday) to make sure they find answers for her death.

Dozens of people gathered at the police detachment in downtown Prince George, wearing red, drumming, burning sage, and showing support for the family.

“She’s only 36 years old, and they took her from me. My baby, they took her from me. Do these people care that they took her from me, or any other parents?” said Beatrice West, mother of Christin.

“Now all I have is memories of my daughter. That’s all I have. I can’t hold her. I can’t see her, text her, phone her.”

The rally continued into a march, where protestors went from the detachment down to the residence where Christin was found.

Police tape and RCMP still blocked off the crime scene, while family and friends of Christin took a moment of silence, spoke about her, and drummed and sang.

“This rally was put into motion prior to them announcing an arrest. And we actually did not even receive word that they had made an arrest until about 3:40 PM today,” said Draiciee Wilson, one of the organizers for the rally.

Wilson said they decided to continue the rally to put pressure on the RCMP to get the family answers.

Police arrested 36-year old Dennis Daniel Gladue Saturday, and the B.C. The Prosecution Service has approved one count of Second Degree Murder against him.
