If mishaps occur in threes, then perhaps residents of Carleton Place and surrounding Beckwith Township have suffered enough misfortune for a while.

One person received minor injuries in the trio of incidents that occurred in the area on Wednesday evening and Thursday.

Shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, emergency responders attended the scene of a plane crash on Cavanagh Road, just east of Carleton Place. The pilot, who was alone at the time of the crash, was uninjured, although a Hydro One pole and wires were not so lucky.

Transport Canada, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre were notified, and the cause of the crash remained under investigation on Thursday.

At around the same time, firefighters were called to a blaze on Emily Street, near Bridge Street in Carleton Place, involving a commercial establishment and two second-floor apartments. No one was hurt in the fire, which also still under investigation.

Shortly after noon Thursday, one person received minor injuries when a propane tank used for welding exploded. That incident occurred on Timberwood Drive, just southwest of Carleton Place.
