2 ‘armed and dangerous’ suspects prompt shelter-in-place warning in Parkland County, Enoch - Global News

Residents of Parkland County and the Enoch Cree Nation were advised to shelter in place as police searched for two suspects believed to be armed and dangerous west of Edmonton.

In a tweet at about 2 p.m., RCMP said officers were “attending (an) incident west of Enoch near Highway 628.”

“Please stay in your homes or shelter in place. Please report any suspicious activity to police.”

RCMP said they would give updates “as necessary.”

An Alberta Emergency Alert was also issued for Parkland County, west of Edmonton, in the area highways 60 and 628.

A blockade was set up just west of Highway 60, on Highway 628 — which runs along the north edge of the First Nation in Parkland County. Police and ambulances were seen parked on the dirt road.

Enoch also shared several updates on social media regarding two different locations in the community.

At 2:30 p.m., a Facebook post said the patio at the River Cree Casino on the eastern edge of the nation was closed.

The community also advising people to stay away from the northwest corner of the reserve near Spruce Valley Road/Range Road 265.
